SMART FOUNDRY – a system tailored to the customer's needs

 

 

Dear Sir/Madam,

 

The SMART FOUNDRY Team specialise in solutions dedicated to the foundry industry. The team, established in 2007, is composed of experts from the foundry industry and IT specialists.

This collaboration has enabled us to create the SMART FOUNDRY system – a solution which draws from our best ideas, observations, interdisciplinary know-how and knowledge of production processes used in the daily operation of foundry businesses.

Who needs the dedicated SMART FOUNDRY system?

The SMART FOUNDRY IT system is an efficient tool supporting production processes in foundries, and is especially helpful to technologists.

Considering the unique character of casting processes, ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning) are not a sufficiently effective solution for foundries. They lack a special module for technological know-how management. The missing link is the SMART FOUNDRY system, perfect for both small foundries and large foundry groups.

On the basis of an analysis of the operating conditions, production processes and tools used in several dozen foundries, we can say that the SMART FOUNDRY system is needed in every modern foundry where information is valued as a source of competitive advantage. Where information and technological thought is easily accessible, safe, can be interpreted, analysed and used to generate knowledge, which creates added value for every foundry business.

One source of information – rather than chaos

Imagine that you are managing a dozen technological projects developed for the production department. On average, each project includes several simulation variants. The projects are stored on your computer or the company's network drive. Production data, if they are archived, are stored in another location, and quality control results and any possible defect descriptions are saved by another person in yet another location.

You receive an order to develop technology for a project similar to one you have completed in the past. But which project was it? How to find it quickly? How much time will it take? With these questions in mind and after several attempts to find a similar solution, you abandon the idea of browsing through several hundred simulations. You start developing the technology from scratch without any simulation results or knowledge about the methods used while working on similar earlier projects.

Now imagine a different situation.

You receive an order to develop technology for a project similar to one you have completed in the past. You have a system which archives data from all stages of production on an ongoing basis: from the order, to developing the technology, production data, quality control results, to the sale to the customer. It features a special window where you enter the right search criteria and the system produces a list of technological projects which meet the specific criteria. You open a project and quickly analyse the technology development process, which you can adapt to the new solution. This process enables you to save time you would need to prepare and calculate at least two simulation variants.

Apart from well-organised production documents, with the SMART FOUNDRY system you gain another added value of about 30% saving in terms of time needed to develop new technologies.

Safety

We use a range of trusted security means to protect your data in the system:

 

Firewall

Protecting the servers against unauthorised external access. The firewall prevents unauthorised system access.

 

Secure Socket Layer

A data encoding tool used while transmitting data from the server to the end user's device. All data sent over the Internet are transmitted through an encrypted channel, with the use of the latest encryption technology and the SSL key. This means that intercepting and decoding a data bundle during the transmission becomes virtually impossible.

 

User privileges

User privilege system. The system can be accesses upon providing the correct ID and password. The privileges mean that all users work with the section of the software allocated to them, on a specific scope of available data.
